Justin A. Long, PhD BME, EIT, is a Senior Biomechanical / Biomedical Engineering Consultant. Dr. Long specializes in forensic analysis of medical devices and accident reconstruction pertaining to biomechanics and injury causation. Prior to gaining extensive academic and industrial experience, he interned as an engineering technician with Thornhill, Ramirez & Associates, Inc. Dr. Long earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2005 and his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2014. His dissertation work included the development of sophisticated diagnostic imaging methods for identifying and characterizing the progression of traumatic brain injuries (TBI). Additionally, Dr. Long has over 15 years of experience in medical device design developing products for the wound care (NPWT), advanced surgical retractor (ASR) and minimally invasive heart valve replacement (TAVR) industries. He is a well-published author and prolific inventor with over 90 issued patents. Dr. Long is a member of the American Society of Biomechanics (ASB), the California Association of Accident Reconstruction Specialists (CA2RS), the Texas Association of Accident Reconstruction Specialists (TAARS), and the Association for the Advancement of Automobile Medicine (AAAM). He is a FAA certified pilot for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and is fluent in Spanish.
